The underwear bomber fallout is far from over. Panties are in a twist. Airport security is in question. Extreme and controversial safeguards are being contemplated around the globe. Flying will never be the same. But South Korean scientists may be on to something—an interesting alternative to the full-body scan—a full-body sniff.
The world’s first team of cloned, drug-sniffing police dogs was unleashed in South Korean airports last year. Now, scientists are back to work. This time, engineering the explosive-sniffing kind.
According to english.sina.com, the Sooam Biotech Research Foundation used the genetic makeup of a K9 named Quinn to make the carbon-copy canines. The German Shepherd first shot to fame after bringing a 30,000-person manhunt to a close in just 20 minutes after it found the body of a missing child. (more…)

Here’s a disturbing new trend created by the current economy: Paying to work for free.
Tom Ashbrook of radio talk show On Point recently reported parents are starting to shell out major dough to secure unpaid internships for recent grads—to the tune of $5,000, $8,000, even $9,000.

Two homeless cats find jobs, thanks to 14-year-old boy.
In these hard economic times, job-winning traits are: a high-level of training, undying loyalty, and above all else, the willingness to work for practically nothing.
Sounds like a dog, but cats are starting to close the gap. Today, more and more cats are stepping out of traditional roles as mouser and barn cat to become therapy animals.
Fourteen-year-old Samuel, an entreprenerial-spirited teen with Asperger’s Syndrome, has already trained two service cats.
“Cats are smaller and not as noisy and a lot of kid’s who have Asperger’s don’t like a lot of noise,” according Samuel. (more…)

It takes a certain kind of person to rescue abused animals and witness incomprehensible cruelty on a regular basis.
The war on animal abuse is not for the faint hearted. The new TV series Rescue Ink Unleashed, produced by National Geographic Channel, has found the perfect people for the job: a motley crew of tattooed New York-tough guys with 1,700-lbs of bulging muscles and soft hearts. (more…)
