Tweet. Tweet. To Save a Life

200-missyOkay, if you’ve been living in a brown paper bag—like ’lil Gizmo—you may have missed the recent launch of Twitter a Critter.

Brainchild of the non-profit pet adoption charity, Adopt a Pet, animals in need are now able to reach out for help via social media, like, you guessed it, Twitter.

Even if you’re not in a position to adopt, you can still help save a pet’s life in three easy steps:

1. Go to adoptapet.com and use the search tool to find a pet who needs a home.

2. Choose a furry friend in need.

3. Simply click the twitter icon on the pet’s profile page to tweet your friends.

Who uses Twitter a Critter? Actresses Denise Richards and Alyssa Milano, American Idol David Cook and model/actress Mia Tyler, among others. Adopt a Pet reached out to celebrities to get the word out and it worked. More are signing on.

Don’t tweet? Facebook, Digg, Delicious and MySpace options are also available.

Now the word is: Twitter a Critter. Help spread the word.

Here’s Gizmo’s pick: Missy  a special-needs cat (pictured above). You can also follow Gizmo’s stream of consciousness on twitter.
